John A. Clifford of intellectual property law firm Merchant &amp; Gould has been appointed to the International Trademark Association's (INTA) Panel of Neutrals.

The Panel of Neutrals is part of INTA's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Program. The Panel is a select group of highly qualified individuals with experience in trademark matters that help parties resolve trademark and unfair competition disputes without litigation. Clifford is only the third Minnesotan to serve on the Panel of Neutrals.

Clifford, a lawyer with Merchant &amp; Gould since 1981, has a general practice of patent, trademark and copyright law, with an emphasis on trademark and advertising law. Clifford counsels clients with large portfolios of Intellectual Property, and with complex business issues involving patents and trademarks, including litigation. He is also the filing correspondent on over 2,300 U.S. Trademark and Service Mark applications. He serves as an expert witness in trademark matters and has an active practice in trademark oppositions and cancellations, having handled over 350 such proceedings.

Clifford holds his B.S. and J.D. from Creighton University.
